App makes the added cost worthwhile

As I say in the headline - you can get a clock/radio with most of the same features for a fair amount less, but the app makes it worth the cost. As a clock/radio for the bedroom it's passable and has all of the expected features. Pairing to your phone as a bluetooth speaker adds all the functionality you expect from a bluetooth speaker. It's got a 7.5W qi charger built in & usb out for charging your phone, earbuds, etc. All of this you can get cheaper. The app sells it: it has no ads & doesn't ask for permissions that don't make sense (only one it asked for was location, which is useful for setting the time & timezone on the clock), it sets the clock automatically every time you connect to the radio, and it gives a much more usable & intuitive interface for tasks like programming the alarm or radio. It also adds functionality that doesn't exist in the radio on its own: there's a good white noise generator built into the app with multiple soundscapes, you can program it to turn the LCD display off automatically at night, and you've got direct access to settings like the ambient light & dimmer settings.

If I had to pick one flaw that stands out, it's the power cord. It's permanently attached. I would prefer a standard 12V power connector so that it could be easily replaced if there's a need.
